평화와 화해의 순례

2019 Pilgrimage of Peace and Reconciliation

Pilgrimage of Peace and Reconciliation, Jeju Korea, 26-28 May

Pilgrimage of Peace and Reconciliation, Jeju Korea, 26-28 May.

Participants came from China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Vietnam.

5/26, first day

We gathered at Seogwipo Cathedral in Jeju.

Foreigners arrived first than Koreans.

What led us to a cathedral here in Jeju?

It is a heart that wishes to peace, reconciliation, and pilgrimage.

Sometimes I sang in Korean, sometimes in English, Japanese, or Chinese.

We became a heart through prayer and praise.

Second day, 5/27

It rained all night and there was a strong wind.

We changed our schedule in the morning, studied the Bible, and worked in groups to await the rain.

People from various countries gathered together to talk about reconciliation.

When I ate lunch, the weather was strangely stopped and the wind weakened.

We went to Altair Airfield.Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service

Young people from China mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau exchanged greetings of peace with Japanese participants during a prayer at a hangar in Alddreu Airfield, a former Japanese Imperial Navy Air Service. During the Sino-Japanese War it was used as a forward base for the bombing of cities in China such as Shanghai and Nanjing. Remembering the huge sufferings of the past, these young people give witness to a new era of reconciliation.

We walked part of the Ollegon 10 course.

At last, the rain stopped, the wind weakened, and I was able to feel the beauty of the new Jeju.

The students of 'Samil haclim' and 'Prayer Pilgrimage for Life and Peace in Northeast Asia' joined the evening prayer meeting.

The evening prayer service was more calm and exciting than ever.

We have been able to deepen our understanding of our society and Northeast Asia and to pray more earnestly.

We had a good evening after the prayer meeting.

China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, and Korean youth showed interesting songs and dances.

third day, 5/28

We were sorry for the last day.

We have delivered Korean gifts to foreign youth.

We walked 19 courses to come.

We went through Hamduk beach and Sukwoo-bong and went to neobeunsung-i 4.3 memorial hall.

There was a tragedy in which 300 people were slaughtered 70 years ago in Jeju beach village, which seems plain.

We had a day prayer meeting with a sad sacrifice.

We ate lunch and headed to Jeju 4.3 Peace Park.

We prayed in the graveyard with prayer pilgrims.

We were able to achieve peace within each of us, and many young people walked together

and shared the greetings of reconciliation.

We look forward to a new peace that we will build together and pray. Thank you for joining us.
